We source our logs locally where possible and kiln-dry them on our own site. We aim for moisture content of 18% and lower, so our logs burn cleaner, burn hotter & burn longer. Fewer logs = more heat = less ash & tar.

Process Overview

  1. After initial delivery and stacking in the storage yard, the timber is cut and split into conveniently sized logs, using our firewood processor.
  2. The logs are then stacked in our drying kiln. They remain in the kiln for a minimum of four days, at a temperature of approximately 70oC, until the desired moisture content has been achieved. We aim for a moisture content of below 18%.
  3. Once the drying process is complete, the logs are either stored in our dry log storage area or delivered straight to the customer.
